Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Sakil Apps family—Metadata Photo, Unlock and Sakil Browser—accesses, uses, stores and shares information. Each app is designed primarily around processing on the user’s own devices. Optional network and cloud features operate only when the user chooses to use them.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Metadata Photo for macOS and its companion/remote interfaces, Unlock for macOS and iPhone/iPad, Sakil Browser for macOS and iPhone/iPad, and this website.

2. Information processed by Metadata Photo

Metadata Photo processes files that you select or place in its working library. Depending on the modules you run, this can include photo/video file content; filenames and folder paths; timestamps; image/video metadata such as EXIF and GPS; Apple Live Photo, Android Motion Photo and RAW pairing information; fingerprints/hashes and visual-comparison features used to identify likely duplicates; and local cache/identity records used to continue processing efficiently.

This information is used to perform the functions you request, including pairing related media, identifying duplicates, choosing master copies, attaching or repairing metadata, organising files and presenting Finder-style results. The normal Metadata Photo pipeline is designed to operate on your device rather than uploading your photo library to a Sakil Apps server.

3. Information processed by Unlock

Unlock processes device names, pairing/trust records, transfer status, selected files, destination information and network addresses needed to connect your own devices. Local transfers may use the local network. If you configure Tailscale, Unlock may use the Tailscale network already available to your devices. Browser Receiver creates a temporary private-network download link while you keep that receiver active.

Unlock does not require or store your Mac login password. Remote lock/wake requests use the controls and permissions made available by macOS and do not bypass the macOS login screen.

4. Google Drive data

Google Drive connection is optional and starts only when you choose Sign in with Google in Unlock. The current app requests Google Drive permissions needed to list files, download files you select and upload files through the Unlock transfer workflow. The app may receive Google OAuth access and refresh tokens so the connection can remain available until you disconnect it or revoke access.

How Google user data is used

Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing cloud file-transfer functionality that you request: authenticating your Google account, listing Drive items for selection, downloading a selected Drive file, uploading a selected local file, and maintaining the authorised connection.

Storage

OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in Apple Keychain on your device. Files you download are written to the destination you choose or to app-controlled temporary storage while a transfer is being completed. Sakil Apps does not use Google Drive file content to build advertising profiles, sell data or provide personalised advertising.

Sharing

Google user data is not shared with independent third parties for advertising, data-brokerage or unrelated purposes. Data is transmitted to Google as required to use Google Drive, and to Apple/system networking components as needed for the app to operate. A file is sent to another device or destination only when you choose that transfer.

Google API Limited Use

Unlock’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data obtained through restricted or sensitive permissions will not be used for serving advertisements, sold, or transferred for unrelated profiling or credit/lending purposes.

5. Microsoft OneDrive data

Microsoft OneDrive connection is optional and starts only when you choose Sign in with Microsoft in Unlock. The current app requests Microsoft permissions including Files.ReadWrite, User.Read and offline_access. These permissions support account identification, listing/reading/writing files in your OneDrive and refreshing the authorised session.

Microsoft OAuth tokens are stored in Apple Keychain on your device. OneDrive data is used to provide the file actions you request and is not sold or used for targeted advertising.

6. Sakil Browser data

Sakil Browser processes normal browser information needed to operate tabs and navigation, such as URLs, page titles and local browser state. If you save browser-only proxy profiles, the proxy endpoint and configuration are stored locally; proxy credentials are stored in Apple Keychain. Camera and microphone access is requested through Apple/WebKit permission flows when a website asks for those capabilities.

Websites you visit can collect information under their own privacy policies, independent of this policy. Proxy providers, websites, streaming services and other external services also have their own data practices. Sakil Browser does not make those third parties part of Sakil Apps.

7. Website data

The website package supplied for Sakil Apps is a static website and does not include advertising trackers, analytics SDKs, account login or tracking cookies by default. If the deployed website is later modified to add analytics, forms, hosting logs or other data collection, this policy must be updated before those changes are used.

8. Device permissions

Depending on your platform and features used, the apps may request access to local network discovery, Photos, camera, microphone, files/folders, Accessibility/Automation, or biometric/device authentication. Permission prompts are used for the related feature. You can manage system permissions in Apple Settings/System Settings.

9. Retention

Local app configuration, caches, trusted-device records and Keychain credentials remain on your device until removed through the app, app reset/uninstall, Keychain management or operating-system controls, subject to platform behaviour. Files you deliberately save or transfer remain in the destination you selected until you delete them. Temporary transfer files are intended only to complete the requested operation and may also be cleaned by the operating system.

10. Your choices and deletion

You can stop using a cloud provider by disconnecting it in the app and/or revoking the app’s access from your Google or Microsoft account security/permissions page. You can delete files created or downloaded by the apps using normal device file controls. You can remove the apps to delete their ordinary application data, subject to Apple Keychain and system backup behaviour.

11. Security

The apps use platform security features including Apple Keychain for sensitive OAuth/proxy credentials and Apple-provided networking/permission frameworks. No software or network transmission can be guaranteed perfectly secure, so users should keep their devices, accounts and operating systems protected and up to date.

12. Children

The apps are general-purpose utilities and are not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through a Sakil Apps account service. No Sakil Apps account service is included in the current products described here.

13. Changes to this policy

If app functionality or data practices change, this policy will be updated so the published disclosure continues to match the actual product behaviour. The “Last updated” date above will be changed when the policy is revised.
