INJECTING METADATA • SORT TOOL

Sort by GPS

Organise photos and videos into location-based folders using GPS information that is already stored in the files.

WHAT SORT BY GPS DOES

Turn existing location data into useful folders.

Read existing GPS

The tool reads the GPS/location metadata already present in each supported photo or video.

Group by location

Files with usable location information are organised into corresponding GPS/location folders so a large library is easier to browse.

Keep sorting separate from injection

Sort by GPS does not add or repair GPS coordinates. Modules such as GPS by Timestamp and GPS Coordinates handle GPS injection or repair.

WHEN TO USE IT

Use Sort by GPS when your files already contain location information and you want the library organised by where the media was captured.

Sort by GPS ends here. Other metadata modules and sorting tools open on their own pages.

Sorting keeps media identity and reusable cache. Once all moves finish successfully, one shared bulk housekeeping pass removes genuinely empty folders and their empty parents throughout the working library, while required roots and folders containing other files remain. All pipeline stages continue to find media inside the sorted layout. The same automatic folder cleanup applies to Modules 90–94, Reshuffle and Clean Suffix, whether started from Mac or iPad.
